Identity & Culture Therapy for Trans-Racial Adoptees, Race, and Anyone Who Feels “Othered”

Identity, culture & race issues have always been of interest due to my finding of my own racial identity. Being a black bi-racial woman who works in Oregon (where the black population is only 3%), I understand the unique challenges of feeling unseen, othered, and struggling to feeling like I belong.

I didn't choose identity and culture, it chose me. Treating for identify & culture is close to my heart and my own experiences.

Racial identity is nuanced and layered, and I’m here to help unpack that with therapy.

My sense of humor and honesty create a space where we can speak truths about your adopted family—truths you might not always feel permission to say out loud. You’ll work with me because I acknowledge the elephant in the room: You are one race, and your family is another. You are different, and it’s beautiful. Instead of avoiding that reality, we’ll embrace it, unpack it, and find ways to honor your identity while navigating the complexities of belonging.

Therapy for Trans-Racial Adoptees and Families

Enhancing self-esteem through Acceptance & Commitment Therapy

Trans-racial adoption brings special challenges for adoptees and their families. It's important to understand these issues to create a supportive environment. I provide a safe place for trans-racial adoptees and their families to talk about their feelings and identities. My culturally sensitive approach addresses feelings of isolation, cultural disconnect, and identity development.

Together let’s work on your path forward.

The Anti-Racist Practitioners Guide is a transformative resource designed to address systemic inequities and cultural biases within the behavioral health field, particularly as they affect BIPOC practitioners and clients. Based on insights from 145 BIPOC professionals in Oregon, the guide uncovers the pervasive impact of racism on professional growth, mental well-being, and quality of care.

It provides actionable strategies for organizations to implement anti-racist policies, foster inclusive leadership, and create accountability mechanisms that drive meaningful change. By engaging with the ARPG workshop, organizations can cultivate a more equitable workplace, improve team dynamics, and enhance the overall quality of care.

Take a vital step toward a more inclusive and just professional environment by adopting the ARPG framework.
